The language around the category of white wine fermented on the skins is a slippery one, and spans a wild spectrum of crisp and lively to deeply amber and feral. At the shop, we've always taken the subject seriously, with an orange wine on the glass list each week and a section of shelves holding up to 60 skin contact cuvées at a time. On July 27, join sommelier and hospitality pro Alexis Tabor of Disco Liquids for a deep dive into the history and fundamentals of skin contact wine from classic trebbiano-malvasia blends from Tuscany to old-vine Chilean semillon to skin-fermented chardonnay from Sonoma.
