THE WINE: Nórtico Alvarinho is made using the finest Alvarinho grapes, picked from small parcels known as jardins – Portuguese for gardens. Once pressed, the must ferments at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks, which awaken their fruity and floral aromas and retain the acidity. Nórtico is not aged in oak barrels, so that it reaches you in a lively and vibrant condition.

THE PRODUCER: In Monção and Melgaço, the two best areas of the Vinho Regional Minho appellation, the vines grow in parcels that are so small that the vine growers call them jardins – Portuguese for gardens. Their granite and schist soils give rise to the crispest, most floral style of Alvarinho, with notes of citrus and ripe tropical fruits. Wines that enhance seafood dishes, grilled squid, ceviches, meat and fish tacos and both creamy and more intensely-flavoured cheeses.
