Lamoresca Olive Oil

FROM LAMORESCA: Our farm owns 6 hectares of olive trees, with 300 very ancient trees and 4 hectares of relatively young plantations. The olive groves are a mix of different, traditional, Sicilian varieties: Tonda Iblea, Moresca, Biancolilla, Nocellara del Belice, Ogliarola Messinese. Amidst our old fields we also have a small production of “Leucolea”, an ancient variety of completely white olives that produce a very light-colored oil. From history we know that it was used to anoint emperors and as a sacred oil in numerous Greek Orthodox religious functions. We harvest by hand from mid-October to mid-November and bring the olives daily to the oil mill. Extraction system by continuous cold cycle.
