FROM T EDWARDS:
THE PRODUCER: Sybille Kuntz Winery is a family-owned German winery that specializes in producing high-quality Riesling wines. Founded by Sybille Kuntz in 1990, the winery is located in the Mosel region, renowned for its steep vineyards and mineral-rich soils. Sybille Kuntz grew up in a winemaking family and studied winemaking at the Geisenheim University in Germany. She took over the family winery in 1990 and began to implement her own unique approach to winemaking, focusing on quality over quantity and letting the terroir speak for itself.
Today, Sybille Kuntz Winery is known for its exceptional Riesling wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the Mosel region. The winery produces a limited number of wines each year, with a strong emphasis on handcrafted production methods and minimal intervention in the winemaking process. The wines have gained a reputation for their purity, elegance, and balance, and have received numerous awards and accolades from wine critics and enthusiasts alike. Sybille Kuntz Winery remains a benchmark for quality Riesling wines around the world.
THE WINE: An intensely aromatic skin-contact Riesling, springing forth with notes of apricot and orange. The palate is equally compelling, showing tangy citrus flavors that meld seamlessly together with the wine’s subtle tannins. Pale orangey gold. Intensely aromatic with apricot, orange and barley sugar. Tangy, sour-citrus flavors, lots of freshness and the tannins are just right for harmony. I think this would be a very versatile food wine. Long, chewy finish.
