FROM DOMAINE JACOUTON:

THE WINE: The color is a beautiful deep red with ruby red highlights, the nose expressive of garrigue and thyme, without forgetting the characteristics of a ripe Syrah with notes of fresh fruit. An elegant and fine palate, with substance. Beautiful notes of ripe but not stewed fruit. Subtle spicy and toasted notes while maintaining a certain freshness. A frank length on the palate where the red fruits of the Syrah stand out.

THE PRODUCER: Trained at Domaine Courbis, at the southern tip of Saint-Joseph appellation, Jean-François Jacouton continues his apprenticeship in several regions. First in Côte-Rôtie, then in Savoie, he returned in 2003 and became a collaborator in the wine cellar of Tain-l'Hermitage. Driven by the desire tovinify his own grapes and also to meet his customers,he created his cellar in 2010. His grandfather André introduced him, when he was very young, to the pleasures of working in the vineyard. It gave birth to a real passion for Jean-François. This is why he first took over the land of his grandfather, a few miles north of the city of Tournon, leaning against the hills that surround the Rhône Valley. The granitic plateau overlooking the village of Vion makes it a favorite land for Chasselas and Viognier, perched at an altitude of 400 meters. Jean-François brought back this taste of “mineral freshness” from his years spent in Savoy to enrich his Viognier IGP Colline Rhodaniennes.
