Coup de Jus "Space Monkey" Alsace, France 2022

THE WINE: This side project was started by Géraud of Marnes Blanche after several incredibly small harvests in the Jura. He sources organic grapes from his friends in other regions and vinifies them into playful wines. This cuvée comes from old vine Auxerrois & Pinot Blanc planted on limestone in Alsace. The grapes were whole cluster pressed into neutral barrel for fermentation and a ten-month élevage.

THE PRODUCER: Natives of the Jura, but from farming rather than winemaking backgrounds, Géraud and Pauline Fromont began this Domaine when they were in their mid-20s, and are ambitious, talented young winemakers. They share all vineyard, cellar, and sales duties, and are rising stars in the region. In 2018 they also began a négoce project called Coup de Jus. These are made with certified organic fruit in tank and are pure glou glou.
